  • ACEPS 2019

    Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka is pleased to announce its 7th International Symposium on Advances in Civil and Environmental Engineering Practices for Sustainable Development  (ACEPS-2019) in Galle, Sri Lanka. ACEPS brings a platform to discuss advanced sustainable engineering practices that are adopted in developing the region. ACEPS-2019 will jointly be organized by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Saitama University, Japan.

    International Symposium on Advanced Civil and Environmental Engineering Practices for Sustainable Development comprises the following core themes.

      1.  Challenges and Solutions in Geotechnical Engineering  
      2.  Coastal and lagoon environment
      3.  Environmental Engineering and Management
      4.  Infrastructure for Changing Climate and Sustainable Built Environment  
      5.  River Engineering and Hydroinformatics  
      6.  Structures and Building Materials 

  • Scope

     

    Large-scale infrastructure projects in developing countries in the Asian region have the potential to cause significant environmental degradation. It is crucial to enhance the knowledge and engineering practices to mitigate the adverse environmental impacts of such projects. We, Sri Lankans are proud to witness new iconic developments, such as Port City in Colombo, Uma Oya Reservoir and Hydropower Plant, Hambantota Port and Mattala International Airport, which have become landmarks of engineering excellence for sustainable development. During their implementation, a unique blend of local knowledge, as well as the knowledge transferred globally, has immensely contributed to such projects. This symposium is organized annually with the objective of creating a platform to review such advanced knowledge and sustainable engineering practices while catering to the demands of the emerging civil engineering disciplines with innovative ideas.
